| This is a graphics driven site. If you are not using High or Medium Color and a minimum 1024 by 768 screen resolution, the pages on this site will not look as intended. Use the instructions below to run your check and this (and other) sites will look and work much better. | |
| To check your browser do the following: | |
1. |
Go to your desktop. You can do this by clicking the desktop icon on your toolbar at the bottom of you screen. |
2. |
Click About Internet Explorer. (If you are using Netscape you might want to think about changing.) |
3. |
Look for Version: 5.0, 6.0, etc. |
4. |
If you have either of these your are in good shape. If not go to #5. |
5. |
If you have an earlier version (<6.0) go http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/default.asp and download it. It's free. |
6. |
At their web site click the Get It Now link. |
7. |
When you are finished with the download from Microsoft you will probably have to restart your computer. |
| To check you screen resolution do the following: | |
1. |
Go to your desktop. You can do this by clicking the desktop icon on your toolbar at the bottom of you screen. |
2. |
Place mouse arrow anywhere on your screen so you can see it clearly. |
3. |
RIGHT CLICK (click the RIGHT mouse button....not the left button) |
4. |
A little window will pop up. Click Properties. |
| 5. |
A Display
Properties window will pop up. Click the SETTINGS
tab. (It's the one farthest to the right near the top.) |
| 6. |
You will see something that looks like a computer screen. Underneath this you will see the words SCREEN RESOLUTION and COLOR QUALITY. |
7. |
Under Screen Resolution you will see a little slider bar that will read 800 by 600, 1024 by 768, etc. |
8. |
If it says 800 by 600 Click on the little slider and move it slightly to the left so it says 1024 by 768. |
9. |
Under Color Quality change to 16 Bit (Medium) |
10. |
Click APPLY
once you have done this. You may be asked if you really want to
change these settings. If you are asked click OK or YES. (This really works, your machine will still work once you do this.) |
11. |
The screen may go black for a couple seconds but it will come back on. I promise. |
12. |
To change settings back to what you had just repeat the process. |
